A Day Out With Jen

 A couple of weeks ago I had a day out with a very close female friend. I had known my lady friend Jen for a couple of years, it is a complicated story about how we met which I will not go into here, but we always intended to have a girly day out, but it was difficult for us to find a time that suited both of us. However we finally managed to get a date organised and we met up at my hotel. Jen had always complimented me on my makeup and when we arranged the date she had said she would like me to perform my magic on her. Make no mistake I am not an expert in the application of makeup, but I agreed to do it with the caveat that if she didn't like it I would remove it and she would do her usual day makeup.  

This was quite a big thing for me, I've never been a with a woman that a wants me to do her makeup so it was quite a challenge. As we were doing day makeup it was actually quite minimal and not too difficult to apply, although it is obviously very different when working on somebody else's face! Anyway when I was finished Jen looked quizzically into the mirror and a big smile appeared on her face, I had got the seal of approval! 

We gathered all our things, it was quite warm so no jacket or coat was needed, just our handbags and we were set. Jen phoned for a cab, oh dear, it would appear the local cab company didn't know where the main shopping centre was in this small town, then after a lot of messing about said they hadn't cot a cab for an hour and a half! We rang another company and a cab arrived in ten minutes to whisk us off to the town centre. 

When we arrived our expedition could begin, well not really an expedition more a ramble, but we were soon browsing through clothes, cosmetics, lingerie, it was lovely. After a while we decided to stop for a coffee, Jen loves her coffee! Sitting with a friend chatting and watching the world go by is a great experience, not a big thing for the average woman, but I am hardly the average woman!

A couple of hours intense shopping followed, although in truth we didn't buy very much. Then as it was very hot we decided to find a somewhere to have a cold drink. We happened to come across a very nice pub, spotlessly clean and a very welcoming bar tender. He served us very quickly and we sat down in two very comfortable arm chairs, just chatting and again watching the world go by......... After about an hour we set off again for another hour or so's shopping before arriving at a restaurant we had pre booked for a meal at five o'clock.

We were greeted very warmly and shown to our table, very soon a waiter appeared and asked if we would like to order a drink. As this was a very special occasion we decided to have a glass of champagne. Now to tell the truth I am not a lover of champagne as I usually find it far too gassy and sweet. However this was very nice and we both really enjoyed it. The meal was excellent and service just as you would imagine from a good quality restaurant, it finished off the day perfectly. We got a cab back to my hotel where we said our goodbye's and Jen went on her way.

It was a really nice day and I have to say there is little else better in this world than enjoying a day shopping with a lovely girlfriend. So if you get the opportunity, go for it you will not regret it............
